Christmas card

December 20th, 2008 (11:08 am)

Merry Christmas to everyone on my f-list!

Click on the thumbnail for an insanely big full-sized image.

The dog is called Albert. He's a bit of a cheat because I drew him a few years ago, before I got carpal tunnel problems, but I've added the 'Merry Christmas' and the glow around the star :-)

Albert (aka Special Dog) is the hero of a children's book I was writing/illustrating for an evening class. He thinks he's a superhero. We can see that it's actually a child's hand that's lifting the toy truck and releasing the trapped teddies...

Autumn leaf drop

Did you finish the book? I love the illustration - very like Mick Inkpen's style. Cute! :)

Thank you! The tutor was trying to get us to draw more like Quentin Blake, but I love Mick Inkpen!

No, I didn't finish it. I wrote a little story (which, to be honest, didn't have quite enough content), created all the characters, roughed out all the illustrations, and almost finished a couple of double page spreads.

Oh he's gorgeous! Like Karen I wonder if the book ever got published - I can think of a couple of small people who would love him!

I'm glad you like him! No, I never finished the book, but I hope to get back to doing some drawing during the Christmas break. (I've never shown him to any children, but my colleagues at work, most of them men in their '20s, loved him :-)

Oh, he's marvelous! I hope you'll get a chance to get back to it. I would happily buy a copy for myself and our library. *grins*

I'm so glad you like him :-) I still have some of the roughs, where he launches himself from the toy shelf, 'whirling his arms and twirling his cape', and lands in a heap (though he thinks he's flown).

I don't know how you managed to write that NaNo, btw. This calendar is only 11,000 words & it's taken my life's blood!
