Hawthorn and Vine Reverse Challenge III, some excuses, and some icons

September 6th, 2010 (12:02 am)

Sorry I've not been reading and commenting very much recently. The end of August is always a bad time, having formerly been my wedding anniversary and now being the anniversary of my ex-husband (aka 'The Bastard') walking out.

But I finally got round to taking my knee to see a doctor, and it seems that I've probably torn the cartilage. 'We' will know better once I've had a scan, and then 'we' will decide what needs to be done. Hand on heart, I feel ten times worse now that I know, and totally exhausted whenever I try to walk :-)

...

They posted my second piece of artwork at the Hawthorn and Vine Reverse Challenge, and -- phew! -- thank goodness it got some reviews eventually because, of course, I was panicking. It inspired two stories, La Vie en Rose by Lorcalon, and Ineffable by the_woods_. The stories are very different from anything I had in mind when I made the image, but both writers develop the various details in really interesting ways.

...

I've just finished another Draco/Hermione challenge -- a top secret one, this time, so I can't give anything away -- and, inspired by the talks by hils and wildecate at writerconuk, I've been keeping a record of its progress, saving a draft first thing every morning, and carefully preserving and annotating any notes I've jotted down on paper.

Of course, because I was watching it, the story ran like clockwork -- I started at the beginning and simply worked through to the end! Bugger! But I will try again with the next story. With luck, the exercise will be more interesting!

...

Finally, we've had an ongoing 'months of the year' challenge at both eowyn_icontest and legolasicontest.

The text is by RB Sheridan:

The months
January snowy,
February flowy,
March blowy;
April showery,
May flowery,
June bowery;
July moppy,
August croppy,
September poppy;
October breezy,
November wheezy,
December freezy.

Ouch!

I am really glad you finally took your knee to the doctor - hopefully it is one of those things that will mend itself, but at least you'll know the options!

Nice artwork - pretty icons too.

Hmm - next August perhaps we should have a 'wash that man right out of my hair' celebration for you...

Thanks -- I wonder if it's something that can be cured by exercise but, if not, I've heard that they can do keyhole surgery these days.

Yes. Or maybe a 'track that man down and shoot him' party :-)

I'm glad you knew what to do with 'moppy'. I should have been stumped!

How infuriating of your writing to run smoothly at that exact moment. I wish you... erm... much more frustration and crossing out next time? (That doesn't sound quite right, somehow.)

I hope knee and spirits are both on the mend now!

LOL, I just thought of those fluffy oil seed rape flowers. (I wonder what Sheridan was thinking of?)

How infuriating of your writing to run smoothly at that exact moment.

I know! Maybe I should patent keeping records as the secret of conquering writer's block?

Thank you :-)
