Deadly Force

What a wonderful subject for you! The icons are really rather beautiful, too.

Thank you :-)

I thought it would be fun, but it was hard work because the treehouses sort of blend too much into the trees. I have collected some nice photos for other graphics, though.

How are you? Did I see that you'd retired? How on earth did that happen? I'm sure you're no older than I am and I have nearly 10 years still to go :-(

I've not been feeling too good recently, and not been around much, but I'm sure it's all in the head!

Galadriel

Oh - I'm sorry you aren't feeling well - last I remember you had changed your diet and were feeling better than you had for a while - I hope this down blip is just that.

And yes! I have retired. It has been quite flattering the number of patients and fellow staff that have insisted I can't be old enough, but I really am.

When I began nursing we could retire any time after our 55th birthday - and had no option but to retire once we reached 60. These days you can carry on past 60, but I had expected to retire at 60 for so long that I felt it was time to go.

It is quite strange - I am still adjusting to it. Obviously a lot less money, but we reckon we'll cope :)

I think you actually spend less when you're enjoying yourself, and with S2C retired as well, it should be fun! (Though I get the impression you enjoyed your job, which must be one of life's greatest blessings).

You're 3 years older than me, then, but I still have 9 years to go. (That's if I've read the letter right. It's too depressing to think about, but so are all the 'if you retired today you'd have a pension of tuppence ha'penny' letters. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope, though if I die before I retire, my brothers will get a fortune in various insurance payouts).

Yes, I'm still on the diet. And it's still doing wonders for my joints, weight & general well-being but, sod's law, it's not sorted out my IBS/digestion problems, so we keep experimenting, removing and adding different foods.

WARNING FOR TMI!

Before, I used to get really catastrophic diarrhoea, but only now and then. Now, the diarrhoea's much milder but happens more often... Which is somehow harder to deal with :-(

Florence Nightingale

I recognise the problem - and my professional advice would be take one Imodium capsule every day as prophylaxis - unless you get a day when you are either constipated or don't do anything at all. Do not take any more until things get moving again.

I have to be 66 before I get my state pension, too. If they don't move the goal-posts again before that.

Thanks for that advice -- I took Imodium when I went whale watching, because... well, it doesn't bear thinking about! But I didn't know if I was doing myself a mischief. To be able to travel to London and back without worrying would be brilliant. Do you think I should see the doctor about it? She gave me Buscopan, but I don't actually have the symptoms that's supposed to alleviate, so I've never taken it.

I have to be 66 before I get my state pension, too.

That's a bummer. And I wouldn't be surprised if they did move the goal-posts again :-( Our only hope is that, as the population ages, they need older people's votes.

What wonderful tree-houses. And what pretty icons you make from them.
